YJ tranny swap

I have looked on various websites and throughout the forums and cant find much info about the nv4550 tranny. I just bought a 87 wrangler and the guy swapped a nv4550. NV4550 Transmission installed and never driven on, Hurst Shifter, High performance clutch system (5 Speed). He was having issues getting the timing right with the weber carb and new ignition system. Runs but not for a long time. Cant get the jeep into gear, the line hasnt been bled yet but dont know if thats what the problem is. Any info would be helpful, also dont know what adapter i need to get the tranny hooked up to speedo

The nv4550 is a beast of a tranny. Congrats on that one (if all was properly installed). If the line hasnt been bled, ur not gonna have enough hydraulic pressure to disengage the clutch, which is why u cant shift with the motor running. It should be able to shift with the motor off tho. If it cant with the motor off, something could be wrong with the shifter or tranny internals (but thats a worst case scenario). Id get that line bled and try again. U wont get to the bottom of it without doing that. Thats the obvious culprit at this point.

after looking into everything further I dont have anymore issues with the clutch...works perfectly. Guy actually installed an nv3550 and a np231 transfer case into it. Everything is hooked up and drives but tranny is sitting on cross member and the shifter isnt hooked up for the 4wd. My speedo cable is also hanging because he didnt know how to hook the electric cable to the 87's mechanical. Not sure how im going to fix that. Any help is appreciated.
