I did use a tj frame for my build. I had to replace the 6 body mounts that run along the outside of the frame. I reused the 2 front ones off my yj frame because they were still good. I made new mounts for the remaining 4. Should be some photos in my build thread. I can't comment on the grill mounting. I raked my grill and built my own mount.

Update, I have decided to try the body swap to a TJ frame. Im going to start a thread n the project. Im going to call it: Back yard body swap.

I have decided to reopen this old thread to update everyone and post pictures of the TY/J. I started a build thread about this build but due to other things going on I did not do the build thread.
It is turning out great but a long road.

Quick recap on the jeep:
87 YJ body
97 TJ frame with 2.5 4 banger for now
All the wiring and OBD computer from TJ
Home made front bumper
Aftermarket gauges
And others I'm sure

I hope to get more pictures taken soon and will keep them coming as I finish the TY/J. I welcome all questions and comments good and bad.
