yj on tj frame

I have just came across a tj frame with axles and full power train. I need axles for my yj and have some rust on my frame. Does any one know how much work will be to put my yj body on a tj frame.

If you can weld, easy, you just need to move the body mounts. I think there may be a difference on the height where the grill mounts, but don't quote me.

thats how the cj are too. you have to put a spacer under the cj grill to use it on a yj

I can weld and have a lift and a welder. My biggest thing is will the body sit on the frame with out having to modify the frame it self. I dont mind moving body mounts. I have already done that with my 02 superduity chassis when I put an older body on it. I just like to find out as much as i can about doing something before I jump on a project. I can make life much easer than figuring it out as you go. I have found another set of axles out of a 89 yj for $250 that Im going to get today. I am still going to get the other jeep frame this weekend and going to keep digging on how hard it will be to change.

Not sure how it'll work without having to modify the frame.. The TJ frame curves up above the rear axle and the body sits along side it. I don't know how the YJ body would work at that location

besides the 83 cj-7, also have an 87 yj, 6cyl., 5spd, weber upgrade, 6.5' western uni mount plow, also a 2000 Sahara, 4.0, 5 spd

Didn't LilViper use a TJ frame? He did a ton of fabrication since he stretched it to LJ length though. I'm too lazy to look up his build thread right now.

The frame itself will work without major fab. It requires new body mounts, radiator mounts, and from what I've seen you may need to massage the body in the rear wheel wells and the front fenders. Shouldn't be terribly difficult if you have the fab skills

Trans swap

Will the trans out of a tj work in a 87 yj. Both have 4 bangers with stick shift. reason for asking I can get engine and trans out of a tj for free.

Did every thing bolt right up?

Did you use a clutch for a 02 tj or 92 yj
