YJ steering column diagram

I just replaced the ignition switch on my '90 jeep wrangler YJ and am having a heck of a time getting everything put back together correctly. Does anyone have a diagram of the steering column? Thanks

Here's an old thread about the steering column that may help you some.

And here is a link to a CJ steering column write-up (courtesy of rustywrangler) that make provide additional help.

what do I need to do to make a tilt steering work with a non tilt steering column.
The black plug omn top of the column seems to fit just fine but the white or clear colored one doesn't want to go on.. I have an 81 jeep cj5 manual with 6cyl.
The tilt was purchased off ebay as a direct replacement but I think the top plug wiring is a little differn't

I fitted a tilt column from a 91 YJ to a 92 YJ originally fitted with a non tilt column. I didn't need to do anything as it was a direct swap. What year is your replacement column from?

I am not sure it is said to be a direct fit.. I got it from ebay.. one with the wrong bottom gear was sent and it would not accept the steering shaft.. so The seller asked me to ship both of them back... after spending 250 plus 20 shipping I spent another 35 to ship both back.. 40 days later still nothing.. after contacting everyone from ebay paypal and credit cards I was finally able to get some more information from the guy and contacted the local authorities... He kept feeding me a line about how his car broke down and he was down on his luck. I finally had enough and just a few days after I gave up on it I was shopping for another coumn when I ran across him selling both of the culumns I had sent back to him... this was enough for ebay to finally take some actuaion and the autorities contacted him... less then a week later I get this column... it looks as I remember the other one looking.. it bots up and fit perfectly.. however the top plug where the two wires go is the problem. The long electrically pin connector is correct. However the two on the top is off... the smaller plug (black) plugs in just fine.. it is the one away fromt steeringwheel on the top.. the one closer to the steering wheel will not plug in.. I took it off and noticed that some of the electrical pins on the cplomn didn't line up with the spade connectors inside the plug. My old jeep was an 81 cj5 non tilt.. I think this is one from a late 80's YJ. I imagine that the difference is shown on the diagrams above but I have never seen anyone not being able to just plug it in and ride. Needless to say I can't return this one I have to make it work somehow.

I am lost.

I feel like a moron... once installed into the dash I couldn't get it to plug in becuase the plug have to go in a certain order.. the longer white one must be installed first.. then the black smaller one beside it.. if you try to do the black it wont work.. .. it is hard to figure out upside down under the dash.. I feel like a dope.
