YJ Stalls then won't start for a while

Occasionally I have dropped the clutch too quickly on my '92 5 speed yj. the car stalls, but will refuse to start after that, as though the stalling temporarily killed the engine and starter. I have to wait 20-30 minutes, and it will start up just fine. runs great after that like nothing happens. How can I bypass this starter kill so I can start up right after a stall?

My gut reaction says fuel pump, but check for codes and get back to us.

I also think your jeep might be just too cold up there in Detroit. As if its saying "**** that! I'm not going out in this weather!"

Check your codes like Billy suggested and post what you get. This shows you how:

Thanks a lot guys. I checked the codes, got the normal 12 33 55. I will look further into the fuel pump.

The next time it stalls and doesn't want to start, disconnect the battery for 10 second and then try and start it. It will reset the ecu and force it into open loop. It will tell you if it's sensor related.

Ok. So open/closed loop doesn't matter. You need to do a couple things. Check your fuel pressure. Could be it's flooding. Also you need a meter. Under$20 @ harbor freight or radio shack. Go you know how to use a meter to read voltages?
