YJ sport bar to YJ family bar

I am looking into replacing my YJ sport bar with a YJ family bar. I am looking for someone who has done this swap and can tell me how well does the YJ family bar match up to the holes of my existing sport bar.

Will there be any drilling involved or "bending" of the bar what so ever? I do not really have the tools needed for alot of drilling, just want to know ahead of time before I go ahead and get a new bar.

Fits perfectly.

you might need some ratchet straps. once you take them out the pillars tent to spread apart a little.

i had to make the holes a little wider when i put mine in my 87 wrangler. its was from a 95 and required some clearancing on the holes that are by the back of the seats, on the floor. the back bars bolted in perfectly and the spreader bars need some adjusting but other then that, it fit well. definitely worth the money

My entire full custom cage cost $250. I would not pay more than $50 for a YJ stock roll bar, family or sport. $40 is fair. More than $50 is a rip off. For $200 it have never been run, have fresh power coat, pay for install services, come with a case of beer, delivery, and a $100 dollar rebate.

lol...been wanting to do this but but there are a few people around here that think they are made out of gold. They're listed for $200 on CL.

When you say widen holes, that mean "moving" them or making them bigger?

Ok not to hijack this thread but I bought a Family style bar to go in mine and it did not come with the spreader bars that go to the front windshield, will the ones from the sport cage fit (I am assuming so just want to make sure). Thanks

I used my original spreader bars and they fit perfectly with the family style bar when I swapped it. The back holes were easy. A few of the front holes had to be enlarged to fit the holes in the tub. PB Blaster was my best friend to loosen up the torx bolts. Overall not that big of a deal and I feel much better about my kids riding in the back for obvious reasons. If you have any specific questions about the swap PM me and I will help you if I am able.

Just had to make them a small bit elongated.

One hole on each pad right behind the seats.
