YJ SEAT SWAP(Need new risers)

I bought some new seats but they sit too high, the brackets need to be lower. I need diimensions for lower seat brackets.

Gonna be kinda hard for someone to give you good deminsions not knowing how tall your seats are etc. I fabbed up some quick ones for mine using a tape measure and a level. It was kind of a pain but it wasn't too bad. Don't have access to my pictures right now. I'll try to remember tomorrow before coming in to work and I'll post a couple of what I did.

What height from floorboard are yalls stock seats? Or height from bottom of door opening?

PO out in bestop seats and i think they ride high since im almost looking out over the windshield an in only 5'9. I guestimate my seat to sit about 5-6" above bottom of door opening.

And while you are at it, why not give us some actual information. You may as well have said " I need to replace that one part, you know? That one part ".

What year? Type of seats you are putting in? How much taller they are than stock? You may not realize this. But giving as much info as possible can be helpful at times. None the less good luck man! Ive been watching all the " Seat replacement " threads for some time. Getting ready to do some myself.

I did the same thing - but didn't want to loose the forward folding action of the riser, so I stabbed in a tilt-wheel setup. gave me the extra inch I needed for my lard.

Yeah, more info sure would help.

If you bought brand new seats, my suggestion is that you sit on them for about a week before you make any decisions about changing the height. The foam will compress and conform to your butt pretty quickly.

A tilt column would be so nice. That's something I might do some day.

BTW, anyone else reading this in the future, here's the basic angle and 1" tubing set up I did.

I don't have any real detailed pics or diagrams etc. just some shots to get the idea....

Hope that's helpful to someone.

Hmmm. Not exactly sure how to take that last comment.

Why would sectioning existing risers be any more complicated than building from scratch? I had to measure 1.5" four times and the rest falls into place. Maybe it looks complicated because I actually went to the effort to document it properly.

I also didn't have to add any steel to this project. If it ain't broke, don't replace it, just mod it.

It just meant it looked like a lot of work. I suppose it looked that way because I didn't realize you were just chopping an existing riser, that's not a stock riser btw.

my next project is lowering my seats with the stock tilt mechanism. I started it but got sidetracked with the EFI swap. its doable. grinding off those swagged pins in a pain. I tried drilling one out but it didn't work so well.
