YJ Rough Idle ater build

I put together a 4.0 a while back and just had to throw it in the jeep a month ago always had a rough idle so i wanted to reset the distributor. I set it at 0 TDC put the distributor in number one is almost at 5 oclock position did everything in the book as said now its real rough almost like its missing Fireing order is correct I checked it a Few time. Any suggestion it says theres no timing computer does it all but thats what its almost like a timing issue?

you cannot adjust the distributor, can you? maybe your timing chain is a tooth off one way or the other

Check for an intake manifold leak? Hows it run when you get the RPM's up a little. It its OK then I vote for intake manifold leak. If it still runs like crap then its something else.

You put it together. The question is mechanically are you sure you are 100%. Do a compression test. First place to start. Also check for fault codes:
