YJ Leaf spring suggestions.. need help

Need some advice on my 95 YJ Rio Grand (4Cyl)

I know everything about my TJ and nothing about my YJ when it comes to suspension parts..

I am in need of new leaf springs since it has the originals in it.. lol and they're pretty flat.. so what would I need just replace the worn out ones?

I am also might be interested in giving it a little boost for some tire clearance. What would you all suggest I go with and still not cripple the wallet?

BDS suspension. They have a better ride and a fantastic warranty. Plus different lift options and you can even customize your own kit.

your not going to be able to go BDS on the cheap though. I almost had a 3.5 inch kit ordered until the poor college kid expenses caught up with me. the quality and warranty are outstanding just dont expect to do it if cash is tight.

You're right tuckinauster, it is a little pricey. Quality costs and I'm sure he'd rather get something with good quality. 2" leaf springs start at ~~$650.

If I had to go with something else though, my next choice would be the 1.5" Black Diamond leafs.

approx $500 ish and they're decent springs.

Unless there is a local place that can build the leafs for you, definitely go with at least the Black Diamond 1.5" package.

By the time you by stock leafs, new shocks and all the hardware, you are just about at the same price point. DAMHIKT.

If you do go stock, you may not even be able to find the stock five leaf rear springs, and the six leaf HD leafs ride very hard, like you have no springs, (until you remove that little extra leaf).

Have fun and be safe,

Go with a non expensive lift kit like a Black Diamond for a small amount of lift. It doesn't sound like this is a heavy off-road jeep so I wouldn't pour a ton into it. 1.5" might get you 2-2.5" from where you are now if your leaves are sagging.

question: Can you still use the MORE shackles with this kit? This looks nice but I just spent the $$ on the MORES and ould hate to toss them out later on when I have to do this. My stock springs are flatening out.

don't buy the kit from BDS in my opinion, i bought the leaf springs from them and then bought seperate shocks, bolts and all that other crap. in the end i probably saved a couple hundred bucks.

When I bought my 94 Wrangler it was lifted, but it rode really roughly. Im trying to improve the suspension now by removing the lifts, but I cant figure out what I have. All I know is that it has 4 leaf springs instead of the 5 stock. Does the bds also have 4 or does anyone know which one does?

wow, 2007 thread back from the dead. probably should just start a new thread.

there are too many leaf packs to keep track of, and many different numbers of leaves in these packs. without some kind of SN or something, it is hard to tell.
are your springs military wrapped or no?

if it is riding roughly...it is probably because it is a leaf sprung vehicle.
also:
-you may still have the trackbars on there
-shackle/spring bolts could be too tight
-crappy shocks
