Yj Jeep 4.8 with 4l60e.

Im building my jeep but i have been told i need the cluster with the speedometer for the tranny to shift. Has anybody built one and not needed to use a speedometer? I already flashed the computer but dont know if i need a speedometer.

you need the VSS on the back of the trans to run either into a pcm for an engine that typically had that trans, or into a seperate transmission control unit.

i run a 4l60e and it shifts just fine, i have no speedometer

Do i have to purchase an after market vss or does do i go ask at a junkyard for one?
I have not tested the jeep yet, what is the vss or where is it located,
I also dont really need a speedometer, is the pcm my computer or is that different?

There are two wires coming from the pcm to the tail end of the trans (where the vss is located)

What t case are you running? Im guessing the 231C that came stock behind the 4l60e?

Ill take a picture of my vss tomorrow

Probably sent from under my broken heep

Yep the ecm and pcm are technically the same.

And to get the picture you have to be a paying supporter of the forum (it's worth it if you purchase stuff from vendors on here) I've saved more money with member discounts than I spent on the membership
