yj have a clutch safely switch?

Does a 93 yj 4.0 have a clutch safety switch? Seems like sometimes I have to push the clutch down to start it sometimes not and sometimes I have to slam the clutch to the floor to get it to start. I don't have much time to work on this thing anymore now that I'm a father. I thought there wasn't one but wanted to ask you guys. Thanks again.

There is no clutch saftey switch/clutch interlock or brake interlock of any kind on a YJ.

S.. afe... ty? What is this strange word? Back in the YJ days, they figured people would be smart enough to manage such a simple task as making sure it's in neutral before turning the key. Turns out they needed the switch later on anyway.

It sounds more like your ignition switch in the column is going bad. Try starting it with the Jeep in neutral with the clutch out and see what happens. If it has the same sort of delay, I'd think it's either the ignition switch or the starter solenoid.

Yea I thought there wasn't. But I can hold the key in start slowly push down the clutch and it will start, made me doubt myself. Of couse I went out to look at it yesterday and it started fine everytime. I hate intermitant problems.
