In my process of rebuilding and detrashing my yj I've come to the door switches. Can someone explain to me what they are supposed to do when the ignition is on and when the ignition is off and when it's in the accessory position. The driver side has 2 wires while the passenger side has one. I assume that has something to do with the key in the ignition switch. Anyways, I'm looking to figure out what all the functions of the switches are.

They are normal closed switches so the door opens them when its closed. One is a buzzer and one is an overhead light switch, if I remember right.

Mine only seem work when the key is in the ignition. Doesn't have be on or in accessory. Just in the ignition switch. This seem right?

Mine work without keys in the ignition. They are courtesy lamp switches. One wire on the drivers side controls a buzzer when they keys are in so you don't forget them.

Mine work without key in the ignition, but door buzzer is long gone....I recently replaced the switch on the passenger side because it was sticking. Probably easiest fix I've had on the jeep. I had my 11yo son do it, never too early to get them hooked.

Could someone take a look or snap a pic. I'm fairly certain it mounts from the passenger compartment side.

Ok, i see it. Thank you for the help, thats how i mounted it. The passegnger side switch fell apart when i installed in, Shot accross the room actually. Emailed the place i ordered it from and asked for a replacement. Hopefully will hear back tomororw. Thanks everyone. Just for clarity. This does the interior lights and the key in ignition switch. Does it do anything for a headlight reminder?

My pass side actually broke. I didn't realize it until I took the picture. Gonna order some from jeepsareus.com I think it is.

The pass side is only interior lights. The driver side does both. No it does nothing for the headlights. You can wire in a buzzer for them though.

Jeepsareus.com is the place I ordered my replacement after I busted the drivers side. Its expensive but totally worth it especially if you swap the interior lights for LEDs
