yj door surrounds

well, i have finally made time to make something to fill the space behind the soft doors that is left uncovered without a soft top frame in place.
i used some aluminum plate, shaped it to fit the big *** hole that is left there behind the upper door, and installed it.
to make it look a bit nicer i covered it with some fabric from an old soft top to make it look more like it belonged.
i am pretty happy with the results. it certainly fills the gap, and actually looks pretty decent.
i'll get some more pics of the finished product tomorrow. there are still a couiple of loose ends i need to take care of on this.

i still have to get some stainless screws to hol it in place, and some velcro to hold the loose flap to the roll bar.
when it is all finished, it is going to look great, and do what it was designed to do.

It looks very nice!..... That empty space also bothers me... I was wondering if the TJ surrounds could fit in my YJ ? Did you try to go that way? Is it possible?

I know I'm digging way back here, but I was wondering... NAILER, how are these attached? Did you use self tapping screws and just screw them right into the roll cage and body?

EDIT: also since this os from '05 - How have they held up?

they have held up great. there have been no problems at all with them. they are held in place with self tapping screws. that was sopposed to be a temporary attachment, ut you know how that goes. one of these days i'll reattach them with the stainless hardware i purchased for them.

Wouldn't you rather be working on your room addition?

I tried to get Rusty to come awn out with me, but he's gotta make some burritos at Taco Bell, or some lame excuse like that.

Give me a ring if you want me to pick you up some firewood. I plan to leave to JV tomorrow ~noon.

BOT: Looks good Erik, don't scratch them on Sledge.
