YJ custom Dash

well I'm starting a custom dash. Decided to do this because I am using after market 2 1/6 gauges and I don't really like the look of the dash. I don't like having the radio so low on the right side, and I need a place to install my CB so I redesigned it and moved it.

Are you going to use the space above the radio for indicator lights and switches?

I would use some door molding trim around the back edge behind the gauges to protect the wires from a sharp edges.

The other thing is I would not be a passenger in your jeep. because you have some sharp corners on that side that really needs to be rounded off.

well I did some more work on the dash today. I test fitted it in the jeep and I really like how it looked. but after looking at it I decided to take a comment a fellow Jeeper made on here and decided to round the corners because I didn't like how they stuck out. One thing I love about working with metal you can cut it and weld and shape it as you like. What I did was cut the corners off and used a piece of 3/4 EMT conduit I had laying around and cut a piece out of it to weld in for my corners it worked out awesome. I painted it with a Hammered Black paint.

Well I finnised the dash up today got it installed. Installed some temp gauges till my AutoMeter gauges come in. I also changed the panel alittle bit decided to use the original 4x4 indicator in the center and in the lower half I installed the LED that tell me when the elec fans are on. The dash looks pretty sweet..

Wow that looks really good! I thought the piece with the gauges was going to stick out further but it doesn't...looks awesome. I like the rounded corners on it as well.

Agreed.. Good job. If you paint the stock panels too it'll blend in really well I think.
