It's been a good first few weeks here. I have learned a lot and gathered so much info on Jeeps. It's good to get my hands dirty again. Thanks everyone. Have a great weekend. Valar Morghulis

Ok, I have an idea for a truss on 8.8

I have some extra 1.9" pipe with .2 wall.

Here is a rough idea. two bends and that's it. I know the pipe is more than strong enough for the job.

man, you've done some pretty awesome stuff in the past, so I think you can pull it off. 0.200" wall is pretty thick stuff, but is that pipe or tube? (pipe is for liquids, tube is for strength)

why truss it? i doubt you'll be bending the axle. more axles are bent by welding on trusses than actually wheeling

Why not?

Not sure how I'd bend with just welding a pipe on in two spots.

I understand where your coming from though. Big trusses, welding, pulling the tubes and stuff.

idk trusses just take up space that is many times much needed under a full bodied jeep. I honestly don't know so this is an honest question, how much strength do you think its really going to add?

imo a bent pipe like that wont add much strength, if you are hitting hard enough to bend the tubes, a bent tube run over the axle with no more than 2 tie in points will bend pretty easy. i'd say if you really wanna add strength you need to tie it into the housing in multiple places.

but that's just my opinion, free advice is worth what you paid for it.

Yeah, i see what your saying. It would be pulled tight to the diff so is lose under 2" of up travel, which wouldn't effect anything on my set up. And to bend the tube that thick I'll be using a 12,000 lbs bender so imagine it would increase the strength of the tubes by 50%
