What I have come to realize about being a YJ or "older" Jeep owner is that a rational mind is a hindrance. Owning a Wrangler, especially a modified older Wrangler, isn't something a rational person would do. It takes a lot of work, tinkering, and dedication - PASSION - to keep things working as they should. You have to remember and know things other vehicle owners take for granted.

Injecting a disinterested, neutral, rational 3rd party mechanic into your decision making process was a very rational thing to do. Unfortunately, I will guarantee you that if we took all the YJ of the Month winners from the last 3 years - the YJs that we as a community feel are head and shoulders above others on here - and put them in front of a disinterested, neutral 3rd party mechanic, he'd probably find at least 3 things "wrong" with all of them.

Buying a modified Jeep, designed for extreme driving off road, should not be a make-or-break decision based upon minor issues. Hell, how many of us, including me, have bought a YJ without it even running - not knowing if the engine was toast or not? A lot of us. Why? because we know and we relish the opportunity to fix the little things, improve the big things, and build it how we want it.

If you want a very capable 4WD Jeep Wrangler that's perfect, the JKU Rubicons are only $35-$45K. with a $10k down payment, your monthly payments will be around $450. OR - you buy a well built TJ like the one you looked at, and sink (on average over a year) about $250 a month in upkeep, upgrades, and tires.

The choice is yours, but either way, it's not made with the rational mind. It's about PASSION.

Just curious here. What does a ban consist of? Is it a lifetime deal, couple of months, weeks, or does it vary depending on the severity and discretion of the mod?

I think the latter from what I've heard/seen.

While Anti is answering questions, how does one become a mod?

I know you're always on and have like a bajillion tech posts but did you apply or did they seek you out?

It's up to the discretion of the moderators. Plural. Unless it is a blatant violation of the rules then it is instantly done after a warning. Sometimes a warning via PM and sometimes a public one like up there^^.

As for the moderator initiation, its a secret but it involves a tin of baked beans (preference of the new mod) a couple party balloons and a very interesting ****** that you ***** out in your jeep while ***** on a ********** with an adult tricycle.

Emailed the guy, we will see what happens...I need a new YJ so freaking bad! I'm pretty sure I'm dying slowly each day that passes without that leaf sprung POS sitting in my driveway taunting me with work to be done...
