Read the thread listed. There isn't any lubrication because the jeep isn't actually in neutral.

No ignorance implied or received. The topic of how to correctly flat tow has spawned many threads and articles. I read many before I grasped the potential damaged that could be caused by inadvertently slipping from tc neutral to a gear range or for the trans to grab a gear unintentionally. With a front locker and no neutral plate there is potential even when in neutral, to create enough pressure through the TC to activate the front locker. Better safe than sorry.

If you get some time during one of our wrenching weekends, I would be happy to tear apart this or that just to show the mechanics and not only the how but why it works. I did a SYE two weekends ago and taught the guy a little about the transfer case he had. Things are a lot easier to understand when you can physically move them around with your hands and see firsthand what the stupid diagrams are trying to explain.

x2

I was a little worried about doing the SYE when I was reading the instructions and write ups online but once I had it infront of me, I realized I made a bigger deal of it than it was

Thanks for the clarification. I was confusing this one with the NP219, which doesn't have the 4-LO.

Just wanted to bring this up here: today marks one of the biggest sacrifices this country's young men made for the freedom of the world against tyranny.

Don't forget.
