The giant one. Wanted it for gas cans and whatnot. Or to compensate for something. I dunno.
It's super easy to just move the plate over and cut the excess off the spring plate.

In fact I got the XJ style wheel and tire for the spare on the YJ and a spare galvanized trailer wheel with a good tire that fits all 3 of my trailers that way.
Most of my equipment at work comes from the garbage of others... I dumpster dive semi-professionally.

I don't take everything, but I've sold a lot of selectively obtained free stuff on Craigslist. And my trailer 'rebuild' of the open utility trailer that died of rust last fall had new steel for the frame, but the plywood floor, axle, springs, wheels and tires, metal for floor supports, and head board were all free stuff. The coupler, tongue jack, and a few other things came from the old trailer.
I picked up a hitch trunk in a free pile once. Tried to sell it for $100 for several months and couldn't. They sell for $650+ new for the type and style this was. So I waited a couple months and relisted it at $300 - sold it within a day for $250.
I've picked up free used tires in sizes I can't use and sold them for $100.
I've picked up motorcycle stuff I can't use and craigslisted it.
I've bought stuff at yard sales that I had absolutely no interest in so I could sell it.

I don't dumpster dive but I'm open to opportunities when they come up

World class garbage shopping exists in Sin City.

I once "aquired" a KTM 50 and Suzuki PW50 from the same house.
Both had old gas clogging the jets and were tearing around my neighborhood by drunken friends that night.

I recently "picked" a set of 4 stock YJ wheels. It was perfect timing, kid needed a spare.

I'll put Vegas trash up against any other city.

GET OFF MY LAWN!

Sometimes too cheap a price, and people view it with suspicion and move on. Like my YJ when I bought it. Nobody else even looked at it, but worse vehicles for twice the price were being sold on craigslist all the time.

Rumor has it that crown royal had terrible sales before they doubled their prices and it became popular.

Well I was studying YouTube to maybe decide on going one piece passenger shaft and I got distracted for a minute.
There are some fascinating mechanical things I'll admit I just don't get. I'll just leave this here.

Speaking of dumpster diving. I found this gem in the trash recently.

It's steam engine about 6 inches tall. Paratroopers used this model in WWII to charge their radio batteries. The internet says that after the war, people used to install them in their small boats and canoes for propulsion. about 1/3 hp at 2500 rpm.

Haven't tested it yet, but everything still rotates and moves ok. I'll probably try it with compressed air first.

Hey all.
So...a bit technical but this is where we are...

If I replace my ring and pinion gears, I don't need to reset the backlash and preload? Just the pinion depth?
Talkin about an 8.8.
