He stated that the motor had been bored 30 over. He stated that he couldnt get the engine to crank, and that he was tired of messing with it. He was asking $4500 for it. I decided to take a gamble on a jeep that wasn't running, and I talked him down to $2500. I replaced the fuel pump and fixed some wiring issues. Now the jeep cranks right up and drives great! I can't believe I got this jeep for $2500. The jeep has a ford 8.8 rearend with an electric locker. I'm not sure what gears are in it yet, but after driving it, I know they are right where they need to be. I plan on figuring out what gears are in it soon. The jeep also came with five brand new 36" super swampers. Under the hood, I noticed a Hesco high flow throttle body spacer with a Hesco high flow throttle body. It has a Hurst manual short throw shifer. It has an aftermarket fuel cell located in the back of the jeep, a custom aluminum dash, and a later model roll bar. The lift is all suspension, no body lift. Im not sure how much lift it has. Does anyone have a good guess to what size lift I have? I am now in the process of pulling the dash and trying to get all the gauges wired up correctly. I am proud to say that I've been a jeeper for 12 years now.
Man you got a great deal... I like the look of the front flares on the back with the trimmed quarters... Is it SOA?

I am not sure as I am not the wise man in here, but I would bet with some measurements someone would be able to figure it out...

Measure to the bottom of the rocker panels. Stock is 18" with 29" tires.

Ok. I'm at 29.5" with 36" tires. So what size lift does that show?

Could be.
Soa and 36 inch tires, not strange to be lifted 8 inches.
I have 4 inches of lift for 33 inch tires. Take my 4 inch lift and soa it and i am at 8.

8" with the SOA, I am not sure what the SOA gives but I would bet about 5-6 inches so you probably have 2 -3 " springs

Yep. Sounds like 2.5" lift springs. SOA on its own is 5.5" lift IIRC.

Think this is where i go. Has anyone mounted shackles to the outside of the stock bumper? If so why? For stretch?

Yes. Longer leaf springs can give stretch as well as more flex and require mounting to the bumper.

I would make sure you have a substantial bumper that is properly mounted to the frame. A lot of guys who stretch and put longer leafs in use XJ springs but that's just one option.
