YJ A/C and vent question

Did only the hard top YJs get the 3 air vents that protrude under the radio and A/C controls and the 1 under the glove box? Were the vents like that part of a package? Sorry for the silly question but I havent seen any soft top YJs with them yet.

The AC is a bolt on option. More common with hard tops from the dealer, but available with soft tops also.

Yep. I got the Renegade package in my '91, and it came with a hard top. The AC blower unit was an add-on option.

I see it now. Its like a whole unit as sold from jeepair.com that fits under the dash and it appears self contained. I have looked at some Jeeps that had that unit under the dash yet they also had the slide type temp select levers and blower motor speed select to the left of the radio as well as what appeared to be controls on the A/C unit under the dash. Whats up with that?

Did Jeeps come with A/C controls even if they didnt leave the factory with it and when its added later you just use the controls on the add on unit?

The slider is to choose if you want hot air blowing for the defrost/heat or if you want outside temp air blowing. Those come in all YJs
The knobs on the a/c unit choose the power it blows out and how cold you want it.
I have a/c and it came like that. A lot of the saharas came from the factory with a/c.
