I am a YJ funatic, have two YJ/trail rigs that are respected. Started working and building jeeps, swapping axels when i was 15. and this one will be my pride trail rig, and im sure ill start another one after this (2.5 ton rockys ). bought the frame and tub for 400 bones, and bought a 1979 Chevy 3/4 ton for most of my parts 600 bones. 14 bolt FF, SM465, 205 t-case, 350 Jasper 16,000 miles. the frame had bad frame rot in the rear. Im taking it one step at a time, will be a while till finished. Poor white boy here. HA

I have been peicing together the body parts and now am just down to a windshield frame i need. im making tube fenders, and the tub i need to comp cut, and weld in new floor boards. I have so many big plans for this rig it will be a while before it is done. I like to say I build jeeps, just dont cut fenders, swap axels and throw some suspension on it and call it built. I have a CJ built as well, and some bolt on swapped axel cherokees and wranglers.

The build looks great!

"Shes under powered, has little axles, doesn't flex that well, but she'll get there!"

Take a class, most local areas have some cooperative educational place that offers classes. I took mine last year and it was the best $300 I ever spent.

Just remember, welding is easy, welding well is what's difficult

do it, welding is a great skill for everyone to use especially jeepers. welding is all knowledge and practice. like know how to weld on different angles, different metals, penatration, if your getting porocity, if you should stitch weld or go solid. and metal always moves when you weld it. you learn how to use it to your advantage.
and thanks for the comments everyone.
