YJ acting a little weird....

Just recently, my 95 YJ has been acting weird. If I get on the highway and hit 55mph it rides fine for about 5 minutes, but then it starts to sputter as if there's no gas in the tank (regardless of how much is actually there). It "semi-stalls" for about 100 yds, but as soon as the Check Engine light comes on...it drives fine. Seems kinda weird to me! Also, I've noticed that driving a few miles in town before hitting the highway causes the Check Engine light to come on...which eliminates the sputtering that usually follows going straight to 55mph.

Anyone know what this might be caused by? I'm not mechanically inclined, but by first reaction was it might be something like the fuel pump or 02 sensor?

Thanks for the help!!
