YJ 4x4 Vacuum hookup
Hey,
I recently bought a 89 yj and the vacuum system is bearly hooked up. I need to hook up my 4x4 switch but i cant find it anywhere, any advice will be greatly appreciated. Oh and yes i am going to get a posi but i have to wait. no money!!

I think its on the top of the transfer case, if the bundle of small vacuum lines is still there just follow them under the car.

There was a change in the vacuum system in 1991.
Up thru 1990 the YJ's had 3 vacuum lines running to axle disconnect. The switch for the 4WD dash light was on the firewall and was vacuum operated. As shown here: ![]() In 1991 YJ's changed to a 2 vacuum line setup to the axle disconnect. The switch for the 4WD dash light was relocated to the vacuum disconnect housing and is mechanically actuated. As shown here: ![]() |

Thanks a lot. I found it and connected the lines. Finally my 4x4 works.

x-case vacuum harness
would i need to connect that magic red hose to a manifold vacuum port or should i use one on the carb . just changed location of pcv vacuum because while going thru the gears it would blow the pcv valve out of its loose fitting grommet . seems to have eliminated that issue with little or no affect on the engine so im leaving it there !
