On thursday I got the rear mounting plates and 4" flares. When I set the plates where they belong I found out that metal cloak sent me the wrong mounting plates. I initially ordered the stock cut plates, a day later I contacted metal cloak and changed my ordered to MOD cut. So now they are sending me the mod cut plates and a return label for the ones I have. They gave me the go ahead to use the current plates to drill the holes so I was able to mock up the flares and lets just say I was super stoked on how they look!




Now I have to cut my rock sliders about 3 " so that the mounting plates sit flush to the body.

I run 3" of lift (2.5" springs 1/2" shackles) and 35's. I cut about 2" out of the back of the rear wheel well only because I have a small stretch, didn't have to do anything to the front, no rubbing at all. I have 4" up travel and about 5" of down. I'm surprised you had so much rubbing...

I don't recall rubbing on the front, but on the rear my flares touched my tires just sitting.

My 35s MTR do not fit in the stock wheel well no matter how high my jeep would be. I would have to cut about 2" on the bottom side in order to be able to stuff the tire up. And at americas tire they had the mtr and bfg in 35 and the mtr was the taller. Unless I was seeing wrong? But there is no way I can stuff my rear tires without the mod cut mounting plates, which requires me cutting the tub. So now I wait.

Why? I don't even run bump stops, if I tried really hard I could probably get more because I have plenty of shock length and fender clearance but my leafs usually max out around 4" up...

This can be solved by pushing your axle back 1" by re-drilling the leaf spring center pin hole in the spring perch and then you only have to cut the rear of the rear wheel wells...

But, your jeep looks really good with those fenders!

Sounds like you could get into reseting the pinion angle and getting closer to maxing out the stock driveshaft. No really an easy route vs. just trimming the fenders.

Well yes you will need a CV/SYE but you will want those anyway. There's not a lot of metal to trim out of the front of the rear wheel well because it meets the floor of the tub there and if you have rubbing there you are really limited to pushing the axle back slightly... At least I was...

The front of my rear fender well only needs like .5" of more clearance. The rear is that part that needs to clear more because with leafsprings, the rear axle moves a little to the rear while flexing.

Yeah the axle moves back as the jeep flexes, I cut about 2.5" out the back of mine and I was able to mod the stock flare to work...

First I cut about 1.5 inches out..

And it still rubbed slightly... So I cut about an other inch out.

This is my poor man metal cloak lol, if I had the cash for MC fenders I would be all over them but this works for now. Your jeep looks great with them for sure!
