YJ 2.5L and 4.0L Exhaust Compatibility.

I'll be getting ahold of a 90' YJ with a 2.5L with brand new headers, cat and catback exhaust. It is a parts vehicle however.

I'm building a 92 4.0L YJ. The catalytic converter is long gone and the"cat back" exhaust is a rusty piece of pipe.

Can I just take the Catalytic converter and cat back off the 2.5L and use it on my 4.0L?
Has it been done before?
If not, is it doable?

Just hoping to save the time and money by asking the wise forum members.

Yes. I put in a 4.0 with new header and downpipe, and cut the existing 2.5 exhaust like the photo above and welded it back up. If the pipe is different sizes you can get offset couplers like the one int he photo, but different diameters on either end.

Seems pretty straight forwards.
I just didn't want to throw out a perfectly good exhaust, especially when I need one.
