I've been waiting for things to heat up so i can paint (not likely because we are getting 12+ inches of snow) so ive been working more on the sound system. IM putting in 2 12" subs 1 5" mid and 2 tweeters on top of the 2 4X6s and the 2 6X9s.

What do you guys think? The wood was painted to match the color of the jeep

(I'm in high school so you need a good sound system)

12+ inches my ***...I was so pumped for a good storm like last time and this one barely dropped 5" down here, and it's the wet stuff. Bummer.

Anyway, your project is looking good. And FYI doing a 4.0 swap while you have it off the road probably wouldn't be terribly difficult nor would it be pricey...I dunno if you've noticed but the price for XJs around here has spiked, find a donor and rip it apart for ~400 bucks.

really? we got about a foot on the NS.

I honestly dont trust my mechanical skills enough to do a swap, and plus license beginning of next month and it goes on the road. Maybe next winter

I lived in Deer Valley for a year in '85
It got down to 96° one morning just before sunrise (the coolest part of the day)
An almost dead guy crawled up my buddy's step one Sunday.
He passed out at a desert party 5 miles North on Friday night.
He threw away his t-shirt on Saturday.
It was not pretty.
A black widow tried making a nest in my apartment. no
Cockroaches as big as bic lighters.
Scorpions, snakes, dust storms, desert lung, rampant parvo-virus

I'll take a little snow.

On the other hand tubing down the Salt River was awesome.
So was KUPD & The Red Rocker Radio Show.
Dave Pratt & The Sex Machine Band still around?

I was just bustin yer cajones.
It was a nice place to visit and I had a lot of fun there.

They will do a visual inspection to see if the cat converter is in place etc and all lights work along wiht the breakes etc. So doing a nutter might fly if you dn't tkae it to the dealer or some other inspection nazi for your sticker

brutal, hmmm...
I didn't even mention the stabbing, shooting or rape.
That was just in my apartment complex.
I got food poisoning and blood poisoning in the same week.
I had a dog named Satan and a rat named Junkie.
No legs on any of the living room furniture.
My roomate and me almost got squashed by knocking over the benchpress when we were tumbling around fighting.
The 40,000 people Scorpions concert at Firebird Lake 20 miles from Phoenix had a killing, 3 rapes & 3 ODs at it.
The radio said about 30 people were still missing a month later.
People get crazy from the heat.
It was intense but we had a lot of fun.

I dunno but yours is the 4.2 right?
Mine's tuned in righteous now.
Between the Weber, bypass, rebuilt motor/tranny it got 15.5 MPG on the last tankful with the stock tires/wheels.
Plenty of umph and riding real smooth.
The specs say the 4.0 has about 60 more HP so that would be sweet.
The 4.2 is kinda fun around town and up the highway but I didn't get it on the road in time to wheel.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's a wuss going up gnarly hills.

Did you do a search about the swap yet?

My mechanic's been saying that for months.
He says August.
Is that what you heard/read?
The sticker on the windshield I pulled from the boneyard says May.
oops, did I type that out loud?

thtas a good deal on that engine, i jsut got a 99 4.0 here for 550...with all the acc. and steel headers, but with 96K miles.

so, being that i got the engine, im undergoing the same exact swap. its a harder swap them the older style 4.0, but hesco makes a kit ( www.hesco.us ) that makes the wiring and what not the older style, thus making it a "plug and play" engine. its a bit pricey though. if you decide to go with the '99...i can help you out about the fuel delivery, CPS, etc etc as im gonig through it right now.

good luck with the rig,
Im in highschool also, i got a 95 yj for my first car.

When i first got it

Repainted the rims new tires and Rocker panels

and threw on a rugged ridge rear bumper

Anyways, good luck with the sound system, it looks really good. But watch out in the summer, i work with alota jeeper's at my resturaunt and they all mentioned how quickly systems walk outa jeeps. I went with the Centerpod from quadratec, 350 gives you a solid 800watt system bolted to the frame and tucked between the seats.

Also, if you end up putting on those add-a-leafs before you get it on the road, PM me about how it went, im thinking of doing the same type of thing and would love to hear about it.
