thats a heck of a front bumper ya got there. it looks like a good start though. just remember to take advantage of the search feature and the FAQ section they both help a ton with the newbie questions.

For the past couple weeks I've just been stripping it down, cleaning it off, and finding more and more problems with it. Painted over the floors with Rust-o-leum the day i got it and i still need to patch up the holes.

do the nutter bypass it is amazing on how your engine will change for the better and its cheap/free :D
its in the *** section

SleddinJeeper 12-22-2007 12:15 AM

I think he means FAQ...clicky

Jeepkiddo 12-22-2007 08:57 AM

I didnt think the nutter bypass was street legal. I live in Mass so there really isnt any good places to go off-roading anyways so im using this for mostly a daily driver.

kharmajavah 12-22-2007 11:34 AM

I have a 1990 with the 4.2. It came with the Carter. It's mostly a DD.

The number one, best thing I have done to my Jeep is the Nutter bypass. It makes the absolute difference in drivability, quick starting, smooth driving...it really makes all the difference, and takes about ten minutes.

The second best thing that I've done is replaced the PoS Carter carb with a Motorcraft2100. I'm one of those guys that overpayed the Ebay guy for a MC2100, but it was basically a direct bolt-on, in excellent condition, and easy to tune.

If your local laws will in any way allow it, seriously think about the Nutter/Carb upgrade. It turns it into a whole new Jeep, and makes you realize that the 258 is actually a pretty darn good engine.

And, if you're going to/have to keep the Carter, make this site your friend:

Jeepkiddo 12-22-2007 11:53 AM

Okay, I'll look into it more

Maybe ill just do it after i get a new sticker ;)

Lunch-time update: Took the window down and broke the passengers hinge in half

jeepkid I saw the photo with the seat belt end rusted off...that happens to alot of tubs, when I welded mine I added some 1/8" steel bar down there tied to 1/4" steel underneath, so that if you get hit by someone head on it will hold the tremendous forces generated in an accident. I want to make sure you don't just tack in some sheet metal there and call it good.

Also I am from MA, PM me if you want to know more about state inspections and engine mods etc. I might not answer til after the 25th though.
