wrangler 5-speed minus 5th

I recently picked up a '94 2.5, 5-speed, Wrangler w/223,000 miles...It seems to run OK, but I bought it with a bad tranny, there's no 5th gear. Probably for what I will use it for...it'll never be missed...If I did want to change out the tranny, what would fit? Wrangler, Cherokee, Dakota...??? This is of course a low budget project...any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks-Craig

There's lots of info on tranny swaps for the 2.5. As long as it's a manual, there is information. The AX5 behind the 2.5 is notoriously weak though..

Thanks for the replies. Looks like good information, since I just got it and don't know the history...I'd be just guessing as to why 5th is out...
