wow...anybody had this happen!

I was lowering the windshield so I could take out the dash and I broke both hinges! I thought it was kinda hard to move at first :-). I raised and lowered it several times but then it just snapped loose. I'm lucky I caught it and the glass didn't break! It appears I was just bending the metal back and forth and the hinges must have been frozen! It's not really rusty at all so I am pretty suprized this happened. Is it a common issue? Picture attached... Also any suggestions on a brand for new ones https://www.dropbox.com/sc/p7ag1x55aqd05d2/K19DQzd0Wl

I'm sure many will answer affirmatively. I had the same thing on one of my hinges on my 85 CJ7. I had been working on getting them unstuck when I finally needed the dash off for some wiring and went ahead and just snapped it. Luckily the old hinges are easy to get off and new ones are sold all over the web.

Good luck!

Mine were frozen as well. Had to use a torch to free them up to bend. Being its metal on metal it does not take them long to size up.
