wont start need help

hi i just put in a new 4.2 in my 89, i got spark and fuel but it wont fire up. it gets so much fuel it leaks out the header and gas starts on fire under the jeep. what could be my problem?

timing issue sounds like your 180 out by all the fuel thats dumping out of it

that would be my first guess, distributor dropped in 180 degrees out. bring it back to TDC and check the distributor, if its pointed at #1 plug, pull the distributor and turn the motor over again to TDC and put it back in, if it's not pointed at #1 plug, pull distributor and point it at #1.

well i got it running, it was a easy fix i had the #1 plug wire on the distrubtor on the #5 wire spot. thanks for the help thow guys!!
