won't start / stay running

I am a new jeeper, and I can not figure out why my jeep will not start, or stay running. I have a 90' w/a 258"I6(all stock). I replaced almost all of the ignition parts that I could not think of, and I think I am getting enough fuel, but it just turns over until my battery runs dead. When and if I can get it started it runs like a wet distributer with hardly any HP. If any one has or is familiar with these symptoms I could sure use some advice. I really don't want to have to pay some stranger to troubleshoot it for me, who knows how much it will cost for that.

1990 yellow YJ, 3" body lift, 2.5" Skyjacker lift, TeraFlex revolver shackles, and 33x12.50s.

Since you've replace all the ignition stuff try replacing the vac lines. They're probably old and cracked.

Don't blindly replace parts trying to shotgun the answer. Unless you are rich, you are just throwong money at the problem, hoping that it will go away by luck. It's better to be good than lucky. Time to start getting good.

Think of this as your first learning experience, and start learning to troubleshoot your jeep. It is an investment in your 4x4 and financial future.

Start by being SURE that you have fuel going into your cylinders. Pull a spark plug. Is it wet? Damp? If so, you probably are getting enough fuel.

One quick test is to use a syringe to squirt gasoline in each cylinder, then start the engine. If you have good timing/spark and compression, the engine should fire up strong for long enough to burn the small amount of gas.

Let us know what you actually have, and we'll walk you through the troubleshooting. Do this a few times and it will become second nature.
