Windshield Installation
Has anyone ever replaced the windshield on a 93-95 YJ themselves?
I have a new windshield and a new inner-seal and outer-moulding. I have been calling around to different auto-glass shops in the Phoenix area and they all want around $100 to install it. I have been searching the net for instructions to see if maybe I can do it myself with some help from friends, but I can't find anything. -OneLung

I've done it, and can definitely say that I won't ever do it again....
The amount of hassle involved in getting it centered, sealed, and seated was not worth the effort IMHO. I'd go with the professional install. |

its worth letting an expert install it. i removed my old windshield and sanded down all the rust. then painted it with rustoleum so it wouldnt come back. then let a local auto glass installer put it in. its warrantied not to leak. its well worth it.

If you break the windsheild it will cost more than the $100.00 and they do break pretty easy.

I have gotten windshields replaced at the glass shops in salvage yards for $120 with glass. Maybe they will do it for half if you take the old one out and clean the frame. Just put on some ski goggles when your driving it down there...

Speedglass might not break, but it sure does scratch. I'd give it a few months before you get irritated and decide to go with an OE replacement glass.
By the way, Speedglass is not DOT certified in all areas. Very difficult for FF to break through in the case of an accident. |

Thanks for the caution though. :-)
