Will rear diff gears from '98 XJ fit in '90 YJ rear end

I have a '98 XJ and just replaced the rear end assembly and pops wants to lower his gear ratio in his '90 YJ. I have the old rear end from my XJ and my 3.07 is the change in gear ratio he wants to come down to from the 4.90 he has. Will my gears fit in the rear differential of the '90 YJ he has??? Much thanks for the advice!

The '90 YJ has a D35C, and the '98 XJ has either a Chrysler 8.25 or a D35C. So depending on which axle it has, it may not workie since the 8.25 & D35 parts don't mix.

The xj could have either the 35 or 8.25.

I wouldn't want to set up used gears that old though.
