will 92 xj axle shafts fit in a 91 yj?

I found a xj dana 30 with locker and chromolly shafts. Wondering if I buy it if I can pull locker and shafts out and put in my 91 yj dana 30. Other wise where best place to buy chromolly shafts?. Also what is advantage of tj axle shaft swap?

Yes it should all fit but you will have to do the axel seal mod. on the drivers side of the diff. but it`s not that tough you just have to get the correct seal. I don`t know if you have had any issues with the Disco (two piece axel) but it is a weak link . How much for the axel ?
Funny there is a good write up about this on this page.

Good price for chromo`s & locker, I`m assuming that it`s a lunchbox type and as long as everything is in good shape. Only YJ`s have the Disco I believe.

Certain year XJ and MJ's have disconnects too.

Adopt your pets. Don't shop for them.

if your saying that they did a TJ one piece pass side long shaft, then yes the CAD is gone.

as stated some xj's and other later 80's to early 90's jeeps also had the HPd30 with the CAD. i'm not exactly sure which ones though. it's easy to tell what you have.

pull the cap where the CAD should be and look in there. it's immediately apparent what you have and it's an extremely fast check to do.

if it's a HPd30 then it should already be a leaf axle.

remember with a high pinion axle you have to buy what is called "reverse rotation" gears if you are ever going to re-gear it.

Depends, Does it have the same gear ratio as your rear or the gear ratio that you would want to go to for your rear end?
If it is the right gear ratio I would swap the whole thing in.
Yes you will have to grind off all the mounts and weld on leaf spring perches.
For $400 I would grab it before someone else does.
The axles are worth that easily.

93 YJ SOA 2" springs front, XJ springs rear w/main leaf added, High pinon 9 inch rear detroit locker front Dana 44 ARB 4.56 Gears, 36 inch Irok tires too much to list.
