Hi guys, I have a mud bog\race coming up in a month and going to need a super strong rear drive shaft. I pulled the rear u-joint threw the end of the drive shaft at the spring race. I have aprox 600hp 406 with nos in my YJ. I had a home town shaft/machine shop make the first one. Obviosly not strong enough. Any help would be appreciated.
tom woods is cool i have one of there shafts but they will just send one off the shelf unless you really talk to him and discuss what you really want/ need.
no matter what shaft you get you will still be stuck with the weak stock u joints.... look into upgrading the yoke(s) to handle a bigger 1350, 1410, etc u joint....
You Bet here is the last run that I actually stood on it and broke the drive shaft. I have not run the nos yet. got to get it to handle all the motor first.
I have mine made at a local San Diego area shop called East County Drive Shaft Specialist. They make shafts for all sorts of race trucks, cars, etc. Fantastic work & good prices. Ask for Todd, great guy!

anybody can make a strong drive shaft as long as they use the proper material.if all you plan on doing is running mud you might want to look into a carbon fiber drive shaft.not saying its needed but that would be the cats meow.
as previously stated the shaft isn't the weak link... it's the u joints....
you could make your own with ease, just use larher joints/yokes. note: you will have to match them at your tcase also....
