White "Stuff" on shifter arm?

So I'm pulling my tranny and I removed the shift arm from the tranny.. The tip of it is coated in a white substance... Someone PLEASE tell me this doesn't mean I have water in my tranny!! I know tranny fluid isn't WHITE.. I can take a pic if needed..

It soft of looks like grease so that is possible I suppose.. Anyway!

Does it feel and smell like grease? What does the tranny fluid look like?

I plan on checking the fluid in the tranny once it's out.. I haven't taste tested the white stuff yet but will do so.. I suppose this post was un-needed but I was here and posting so...

If your pulling the tranny why not drain the fluid instead of guessing of possible water??? It would probably make less of a mess to drain it before it comes down
