white smoke out of the exhaust

I recently replaced the cylinder heads on my jeep(sbc 350) with new head gaskets and everything, however now there is white smoke coming out of the exhaust that smells a lot like fuel not coolant, the smoke is dry and puffy,100% sure it's not steam, coolant levels are fine and i don't know what it could be

could i be burning oil ? the smoke isn't blue but when i took off my intake to swap the heads i noticed the inside of it was covered in oil

it really smells like gas but maybe that's because i'm not running any cats

the heads have new valve seals, this is drving me nuts

forgot to mention

it did this before the head swap, but now it's been greatly amplified, i went from 76cc chambers to 58cc, so the higher compression might have something to do with it

Does the oil on the dip stick smell of gas?

Sounds like bad rings to me. Upping the compression made it worse.

yeaaaaa kinda what I was thinking

i might be sucking a bit of oil through the pcv valve, i'll replace that or eliminate it and then change the oil to something thicker, i mean it's not smoking too much, just enough to annoy the hell out of me

White smoke is unburnt fuel, beyond the black level you get from just running rich.
It's not just a little problem, it indicates one or more cylinders not firing. Or not getting anywhere near s complete burn.
Check compression.

Is the oil level now over full? I once had a Nova with a SBC that had a bad fuel pump and was dumping raw fuel into the oil and it smoked(white smoke) like crazy.

white smoke...

If you have been burning oil before changing the head gasket, I wouldn't doubt that your rings are pretty much stuck also. It happens alot in 2cycle outboards and small bikes using cheap 2 stroke oil. The ring grooves fill up with unburnt oil and the rings stick closed. When I worked at the marine repair shop, we often pulled the plugs and filled the cylinders with what is called...."Power Tune". Its made specifically for this problem. You can use it on any engine, and it does work...You just have to get it at a marine supply store. I've seen it bring compression up 20 to 30lbs when allowed to sit overnight. It just allows the rings to reseat correctly. It wont solve your burning oil problem, but it will help. Hopefully alot. Its specifically made for carbon build up and stuck rings in 2 stroke engines, by those engine manufacturers. If you do use it, start your jeep in the street. What blows out the tailpipe will stain your driveway. You'll be amazed....
