Hi all, 93 4.0 5sp. A whining has developed in the rear of my jeep, but it does not matter if I'm driving or not. Throttle doesn't change the noise at all, its constant.
I'm thinking it has to be fuel pump, which I'm assuming is in the tank. Can anyone confirm?

My first thought was "remove the back seat... no passengers=no whining". But I would agree with the fuel pump failing as well.

Thanks for that info! How long till it failed, or did you just replace? I think mine might be sold and I don't want to screw the buyer.
