i got mine from amazon. $64 delivered and it has the weather stations on it as well. Cobra 18 WX ST II.

I got my antennae from quadratec, one of the "pretuned for wrangler" fire sticks.
Although its more than adequate for trail use all the truckers tell me its transmitting weak. Ive been less than impressed with the antennae.

What we need is a vendor willing to put together a complete package for us jeepers, with a good price, quality items, and quick shipping. Any vendors out there willing to do this?

A CB is about the easiest thing to hook up.
I've been using CBs since the early 80s... boy has it changed since then.

Anyhow, you just have two wires (hot and ground) and make sure the antenna cable is not run next to any current carying cables and you're 90% of the way there. After using an SRW meter to tune the antenna to the vehicle you are pretty much set.

One good rule of thumb is to get the most expensive radio with the least features you can... you get more for your money. A power mic is always a good upgrade as well.

I perfer the K40 antennas myself.
My current CB is a President model, not the greatest in the world but I've had it for a VERY long time. That radio and the K40 attached to it are probably older than you are.

Yeah i agree on cobras being excellent, ive also had a midland that was good too. The difference in the price tween yours and mine is probably the weather stations. I have found them useful and think they were well worth the extra money.

I've always been able to find good deals on ebay. you might just have to wait a few days for one to come up. a few years ago I got a brand new cobra 29 for around $60.

i got the cobra 18 (its about 140-170 depending where you look) and i got a 4 ft firestick and a decent cable. The mount I used is actually the original passenger side mirror brackets i put both of them on top of each other and drilled the hole to fit the atenna adapter and the bolted it back the windshield frame ....... the cool thing is that the ant. is at the same angle of the windshield and only sticks up over it by a little bit here is a pic of my ant mount

Ask and though shalt recieve...... almost anyway.

Stu Olsen posted on the TJ side about a kit, here is the writeup from his site with a link to the vendor.

Looks like a pretty good deal, even includes an SWR meter.

On my CB, I ran my external speaker wire plug in on the back of the CB to the drivers side dash speaker.Don't use them anyway and it makes an excellant external speaker and you can clearly hear it with the top down book'n on down the highway.
