The stock one is pretty sad, plus somehow I ripped the lock out of the top??? Apparently I don't know my own strenght. Just getting sick off climbing in the jeep and seeing that POS in the middle. Plus I'd like something with a good armrest.
I heard something about a ammo can center console?...anyone heard of that? I got a ton of the big ones laying around and wouldn't mine giving the jeep one...and the price is right
I have the Tuffy Delux Stereo console and i LOVE it!!!!!!
My CD player is right there and its actually pretty convienient. Also, it bolts through the body with 3 bolts so its pretty solid, and Tuffy makes it pretty tough for someone to break in, ie it will take a while to get the console out if its locked. They also have a console w/out the stereo part. I havent had any other (new)consoles so i cant say anything about other companys, but ill tell you my console was well worth the $250 investment for me.
I like that ammo box idea more and more now after that link. I've heard sometimes you can use the OEM console base? Perhaps thats with a small box though. I'm not sure I can afford over 200 dollars for a console...money has to be used somewhere else on the jeep. Although if I could afford that console I'd buy it. Just alot of money for a center console.
I bought the one from Quadratech, not the cheapest one, but the next up. Extended console, I think it was called. $90. It's still next to my bed, serving as a nightstand ... but I'm sure I'll be happy with it once I put it in.
I went with the tuffy console myself, the one without the radio mounts. I'm very happy with it. I think I paid around 100bucks for mine. I'd have to double check.
