Oops.

Sorry Cormac, I didn't mean to jump in your thread when posting my question. I was in the wrong place when I posted.

new addition...here a tapping noise, coming from exhaust most definitely. Now I am wondering if that is my catalytic converter going bad. when i leave jeep on and crawl under there, i cant hear anything. It only does it at certain points. So it is either exhaust bouncing around or converter. hmmmm. what does bad converter sound like?

well, tps seems like it may be a problem since you just changed out the throttle body. but...

when i first bought my yj and was driving it around, sometimes it would kinda "shudder" and i would lose acceleration power, and then if i laid off the pedal a few seconds and then went back on it would rev fine. sometimes it would stutter and sometimes stall. dont know if your irregular revving is anything like that, but if it is, i would say the exhaust. mine was rusty and holy, and after a new manifold and catback and injector cleaning my problems went away.

yeah those are the symptoms I have!! haha. I believe it is mostly exhaust..

although one person mentioned that "tps is not plug and play sensor" he did not elaborate, so I believe he may be mistaken, because I can not find any way to adjust the TPS (its brand new)....so yes, I need to replace muffler, and tailpipe....I crawled under and saw holes. exhaust manifold, is that where it meets engine?? i found a loose bolt there, how expensive would that be?

looks like it is hard to get to.

yeah, the exhaust manifold is where the pipes (four in your case, mine was the I6) come out of the engine and feed into one bigger tube. loose bolts let more of the exhaust of of the engine before going through the pipe, so it just makes it noisier and increases temp in the engine bay. as far as cost, it depends how you want to go...you can get a cat back for under $200...for the manifold its gonna be more expensive. you could go with performance type headers, (more expensive obv.) or just a replacement oem manifold or similar. I went with some headers just because id read some people saying the oem manifolds were crap anyway...and it was xmas so i spoiled myself. and its kind of a PITA to get to all the manifold bolts (on the I6 anyway).

i couldnt tell you about adjusting the tps...if its new i would assume it would have instructions for adjustments?

yeah. It was pain in the *** to even tighten the one bolt on the I4.....pulley was in way, or whatever that belt is hahaha. but yeah, I woul dprolly go with aftermarket header....problem is, i have 0 money. I am going to buy a muffler and a tailpipe (which is cat back? lol)...I just hope i dont need a catalytic converter after i install muffler and tailpipe.

whatd headers take you, 2 hours?

well replaced the exhaust....muffler and tailpipe at least....got back some power loss and sounds ten times better

although, a problem still persists. Now I am thinking it might be the cat, or some sort of air intake issue. Idk

I hope you meant "Murphy's Law". Because Moore's Law refers to the advance in technology to double the number of transistors on a computer chip every 2 years. And that would just not make any sense.

Since when is the TPS on these adjustable??? haha, wow. Usually the holes are slotted when it can be adjusted they are perfectly round and fit only the bolt. I'm not sure if that was a valid "answer" The TPS is spring loaded and seems damn near impossible to adjust. If it throws a TPS code reset the ECU and see if the problem persists. Did you reset the ECU when you swapped the throttle body??? If that you WILL throw codes and it'll run like crap.

Yes, unplug the positive for about 10-15 minutes to ensure its reset and give that a try.
