Well what would it cost for a YJ (95)?

I am looking at a VERY nice 2.5 tomorrow and want to know how tough the engine swap is.

Why swap it? Ask anyone here, the I4 has more than enough for ya (unless you plan on putting 37's on it). I thought my I4 would struggle, hehe how wrong was I. The low low gears tear up off road, its performed much MUCH better than I expected. All the I6 will get you is more speed on the interstate. For the cost of buying and I4 and then an I6 (including its tranny and most likely the t-case) and THEN installing it, hell, I would just go find an I6 out there, ALOT cheaper and ALOT easier. But don't rule out the 4 just yet, there's tons of power mods out there too. Cheap cheap ways of tuning it out.

as canuk stated, to do the swap you will need not only the 4.0 motor, but also the PCM and wiring harness, the AX-15 transmission and you will hafta rebuild the NP231 xfer case to have the proper spline counts. if you are just looking for a YJ now and you seriously want the 6; then get the 6.

g'luck

or just buy a jeep with the 4.0 in it already

Well it is a SWEET Jeep so I think I will have to suffice with the 4 banger. It does come with a Magnaflow that is probably good for a pony or two.
The RE 4 1/2 kit and SYE and other goodies are the selling points Im interested in. This thing is pretty dang cool.

if it doesnt have tall gears in it already, put that on your list of things to do. stock is 4.10 for the 4 banger... for 33-35" tires, i'd go to 4.88 gears. that will keep you in good power range. the 4 bangers wheel great!
