And by popular, I mean least expensive, easiest to find parts...

I seem to recall the 4wd.com catalog having parts for a chevy small-block conversion. If one of the larger parts places is carrying them, there's gotta be at least a dozen smaller fab shops out there that make the parts.

350 chevy , ford 302. Easy swap , plenty of after market.

The GM power plants seem to have the most aftermarket support. The fords are just as good but when you do a search for parts the GM is more widely supported. When you are looking for parts include the adaptors for different tranny and tcase as well as your motor mounts. and buy the best engine tranny combo that you can afford.

chevy 350 has the most aftermarket support and there in lots of old cars and trucks so getting one and refreashing it is not too bad at all

Homebuilt bellyup skid, 1" Body Lift Bushings, 1" MORE engine mounts, Herculined interior, "S & J motorsports bumpers, 1/2 lift shackles, tire carrier" Gas tank skid, TJ flares, some "custom bent" sheetmetal
4" rustys and 35's soft 8's still need lockers, gears and to install my 8.8 awaiting funds to finish

Most V-8 swaps I've seen are Chevy 350's.
