What kind of alarms do you guys reccomend?
I have a 91 YJ and for Christmas, I got one of the Bulldog "One wire hookup" alarms. After almost a month of using it, I would have to say that it SUUUUUUUUUCKS! The shock sensor doesn't work unless you smack the actual sensor, the alarm is losing its loudness real quick, and the remote can be operated from a whopping 15 feet away, at the MAX. I have to get a new alarm, and I'm willing to pay for a professional installation cuz I want everything to work when I need it to. lol. Anyway, what alarms do you guys have or reccomend and how have they worked for you so far? I'd prefer an alarm without all the high-tech features such as remote starter, auto door locks, etc cuz usually on a Jeep, you can't use them anyway! Any input is appreciated. Thanks alot

Yeah man I've got that Target special Bulldog alarm on my YJ too...hahahahha what a piece. It's so funny to listen to, the panic button has this woman's voice yelling "Pleeeeease, help me!!!!" over and over...hahahah its gotta be the funniest thing when you pull up next to someone at a stop light and hit the panic button. Anyways, with summer coming up (top down/doors off) I think I'm going to splurge and get the Viper alarm with a proximity sensor. Most car audio stores have them.

I have an Alpine on my truck and jeep. I like all of it except the key chain remote is too easily activated. I sometimes set it off digging in my pocket for my keys

I have a VIPER alarm with a BUBBLE (movement detector) does the job when your top is off to detect movement around the jeep. the alarm is a VIPER 241h I think something like that cost me $200 installed up here in canada so it must be less for you guys

I'd recommend the Clifford alarm system. If you get near the jeep, even with the top and doors on, and you stand 4-5 feet away the prox sensor will go off. Pricey, but worth every penny for piece of mind.

I have a Viper....its ok......I haev the motion detector for it and it took about 3 months of bringing it to the installer to get the sensitivity right....You could get in the jeep and jump around in the seat and not set it off, but if the wind blew the wrong way it would chirp all day and night. A friend as a Cliffird alarm, it has a sound sensor.....easier to calibrate, seems to be more accurate......If I could do it again I would have gotten clifford.
