What gears should i put in my 88 yj

I have a 88 yj. Not sure what gears are in it but with my lift and 33 inch tires they are not good enough. I want to cruse in first gear about 5 mph. And at least go 65 mph in 5th gear. I just want power in every gear. I just want power in every gear

Need more info, what engine, tranny, and what are your current gears ? Manual tranny Jeeps generally require lower gearing than autos.

Oh, I guess you have a 5 speed, from your post. I would say somewhere between 4.11 and 4.56 would be about right for 33s if you have a six cylinder and 4.88s if you have a 4 banger.

With the 6 I would vote for 4.56 as well. I have 4.88s in my 6 with 35's and its PERFECT. With 33"s 4.56 will net you about the same. HOWEVER if you EVEN plan to go bigger even if you find yourself saying that looks good on 35"s go with 4.88's and go a little slower on the freeway.

With 4.88s and 33"s you will be running 2600 RPMs at 65 on the freeway. Which isn't the end of the world. But the old girl would be pretty rung out.
As per: http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html

Play with that calculator. By far the best out there.

Yep, I agree, 4:56 is the gear to have.

Thank y'all for the comments, very helpful. I think i will go with the 4.56's considering I am not going any bigger than 33's. Once again thanks for the feedback, and I'm sure ill have more questions down the road
