What gears should I get?

I'm currently running 33s but I may want to go to 35s in the future. I have enough lift to clear them. I was thinking of just getting the 4.56s and thought that if I went with 35s down the road they would be enough to push them but should I just go with 4.88s to begin with so I will be all set when I do go to 35s or will that gearing be bad with 33s?

Basically what I'm asking is would it be better to push 33s with 4.88s until I go 35 or go 4.56 and hope that they will be cool with 35s when I make the switch?

Sorry if Im not making much sense, just finished Christmas dinner with a bottle of wine.

Yes, 4.88. Been there with the 33/35 thing.

Man I'm pulling my hair out trying to decide which gears I should go with. Let me throw this out there. I have the 3spd auto. It looks like from what I'm reading in the forum that I should go with 4.56 because of my 3 spd. Can somebody confirm this for me?

Thanks

How fast are you looking to drive? more freeway miles (75mph+?), or more off-roading?

I'm building it mostly for offroad but hey, some spots are a couple of hours away. I don't want to blow it up on the way there. Don't want to be pushing over 3k RPMs.

Yes, with an auto, the usual rule of thumb is go down one notch in size, so if 4.88 in a manual, 4.56 in an auto. I actually have a guy using 4.56 in a manual with 35's, but he has a NV4500 with a low 1st gear to compensate in the woods.
