What engine do I have?

Hey just picked this YJ up and it was originally a 2.5 I4, but it looks like it had a 4.2 I6 swapped in. Can someone confirm what engine this is?
The pics are kinda ****ty but it's dark out and lighting in my garage sucks...

I started a thread a while back inquiring about engine numbers. This may be of help to narrow it down a bit more. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f12/e...number-748501/

Yea I know it isn't a 4cyl, but didn't know what I6 it was...
I guess bc it is carbureted it is the 4.2, the 4.0 didn't come carbureted did it?
I'm not too familiar with jeeps.

With any luck the 4.10's!

That'd be different. Buy the 2.5 and swap engines, instead of buying the 4.0 and putting 4-cyl axles under it

hmm just decoded the vin from some posts and links i found on this site and apparently it actually did come stock with a 4.2 I6 and it is canadian since the 1st number of the vin is 2...
when i bought it it was being advertised as a 2.5 I4, guess the woman who was selling it had no idea.
Since i didn't know much about jeeps i just figured at one point in time it had a bigger engine swapped in it.
So everything on it is probably what ever was stock on an 89 YJ with a 4.2.
