over the weekend, picked up a set of 4.10 geared axles, and recieved the new steering shaft that I had ordered. Going to swap the steering shaft tonight, but will probably wait for it to warm up a bit before swapping the axles out.
maroon 1987 Grand Wagoneer. stock for now...
I found this Cobra CB in an old workshop- never used!! Owner said I could have it (got a sweet vintage rc ATV and a Weller soldering iron out of the deal too), so gotta put it in the Heep. Need an antenna still... And am worried about no good, dirty rotten, electronics stealing punks...
Came one step closer to becoming a pro at removing the front axles… I’ve done it about 6 times in the last 6 months.
I’m installing a Spartan locker in the front tonight. I know you don’t have to remove them but the right axle was just hanging there at an uncomfortable angle when I pulled it out far enough to disengage it from the carrier… or what I thought was enough… so I just removed them. Easy enough to put them back in.
My local tire guy bought back the 31-10.5-15 AT that I had on the YJ for the last 5,000 miles and made me a deal on these, only cost me $ 300.00 out of pocket mounted and installed.
I tried both the 33-12.5-15 and the 32-11.5-15 and ended up picking the 32 for a couple of reasons. no rub at any position, properly fit my 8" wide rims, dont loose to much power from the increased size. I drove it with a set of 33 and I cou;d feel even more loss of acceleration.
Let's see.... where to begin?
Day before yesterday: riveted in bug guard, most of dash in and somethings fabbed up for that. not too productive.
Yesterday:Finished putting the dash back together and wired up new oil gauge and clinometer. finished putting the new windshield frame in...pain in the butt. started to fab up my ammo can storage but my rivet gun broke (lasted like 20 minutes, brand new) good ol' HF Then put new jeep logo stickers on side.
Tonight: engine back together and running! hopefully! windshield installed, carpet in, ammo cans finished. hard top back on and quick connect system installed. Next time I post Ill hopefully confirm that these are done.
