Put in my new Bestop Trailmax II driver's side seat. The old one was leaning back so far I was starting to feel like a teenage tool from Tijuana.

Does sit a bit higher, but no biggy. My new Seat Glover covers fit nicely also. I might just order a new passenger seat because it has a lot more support than the OEM seats.

Oh yeah, $145 shipped from Quadratec (they price matched 4wheelparts.com) and took a very sweaty (97 degrees here today) 30 minutes.

Do you have any pics of this?

I've been thinking about putting a nav system in mine, but I'm worried that the dash will get in the way.

Y'all must have forgotten rule #1 of Jeeping. . . "Thou shalt not put expensive things into thine Jeep, for such things shall be coveted by those without, and surely will become stolen."

My limit is $100 for stereo equipment. That's stereo receiver, speakers, wiring, everything. I got lucky, the stereo that came in my YJ has an aux input, so I can hook the ipod up to it, then pull the cord and faceplate, toss it in the console, lock it, and just take the ipod with me. That way, if it gets stolen, I'm stuck replacing a stereo I paid nothing for, rather than my $400 ipod.

My Firebird, however, has a DVD touchscreen (Pioneer, cost me about $600) plus a Garmin Nuvi GPS on the dash (about $225), but I installed an alarm on the vehicle, and the stereo is actually REALLY hard to remove, because it has security torx screws holding the brackets in, and a steel cable anchoring it to the firewall. You could do something similar to a Jeep, but in all honesty, a vehicle with a removable top of any kind is a target for thieves, and you really can't keep them from getting anything if they really want it.

Oh yeah, I went and picked up a set of plugs, wires, a PCV Valve, fuel filter, exhaust manifold gasket, and air filter. I'm heading out right now to install it all. Hopefully things start to even out, it idles a little rough. The air filter was pretty nasty. I'm going to hit up the junkyard next week, see if I can find a 4.0 TB for the swap pretty cheap, then I can get started on that.

So true. My dad had a convertible when he was younger, and someone decided that they wanted his sunglasses inside the car, so they proceeded to cut his top. They got a $10 pair of sunglasses, but cost my dad $200 for a new top. He passed this knowledge on to me, and told me never to lock my doors, because if someone wants something, it's better to have them take it, than to cause damage to the jeep, and still get what they want anyway.

Finally got my diy hoist-a-top done, and got the hard top off for the first time since I bought it. Now to just figure out the soft top - lol.

While I agree with the overall argument that if someone wants it, they are going to take it.....I disagree with the idea that this means you can't put nice things in a Jeep (or any other convertible)....you just have to be smarter about it with a Jeep than with other cars.

For example, all your dad had to do to avoid that whole situation is put his sunglasses in the glove box....boom, problem solved.

I've personally had three radios stolen out of my cars, but all three occurred (at least partially) b/c I left the faceplate on the radio.

I think that a nav system would be very beneficial in a Jeep and there are plenty of ways to be smart about putting one in. One idea (just off the top of my head) is to put a locking door that would swing down to use the radio and then swing up and lock into the metal portion of the dash.

It might not stop everyone, but nothing is a 100% guarantee.

Anyway, just my

I agree, BJsWrangler. I've got a radio, amp and subs in my jeep, and i always put the face plate in the glovebox. For the amp and subs, they are strapped down with steel cables. But I still leave my doors unlocked, so that the can open it to see that there's nothing they can easily take, instead of breaking in to see that there's nothing they can easily take.

Well, I went out since my last post and installed new plugs, wires, PCV valve, and air filter. I'll get the fuel filter installed on Saturday. I've been looking around for the cause of the rattling noise on takeoff, I think it's a loose exhaust mount/hanger. I'll take a closer look on Saturday. Also put the soft top on, but it's coming off as soon as I know we're going to have a few days of decent weather here. I just wish there was room in the garage for it, so I didn't have to worry about the weather. I also need to pull the carpet out of the Jeep and get the Herculiner done, then I wouldn't have to worry so much about water getting trapped in the Jeep's interior.

What's the difference? The part has PCV right there in the part number, it showed up in the system at the parts store as a PCV Valve. . . I guess I'm just not seeing the difference here. . . It does the same job, right?

Semantics, Shmemantics. . . lol

Either way, I may change the fuel filter tomorrow after work, but we're supposed to be getting some rain throughout the day tomorrow. I like the YJ a BUNCH more than my CJ7, I just wish I had some decent weather to go out and drive it with the top and doors off. I'm getting a custom plate too (Army Vet plate), but since my top is off half the time, and it's got tinted windows, I just transferred the plate from my Firebird onto the Jeep, and ordered a new one for the Firebird. None of my vehicles are well suited for displaying a temporary tag inside the back window, so I have to make due. lol

After I get it running tip-top, I'm going to start working on building a swing out spare carrier (and looking for a stock rim to mount a spare to lol), getting a pair of lights mounted to the front, and likely spraying the front bumper with either black paint or bedliner, since the chrome is starting to rust. Like they say, "chrome won't get you home." I just can't wait to take this beast out and have some fun with it.

Hrmm...what year is it? Is it a 4.2L? If I'm not mistaken, the 4.2L had a PCV.
