Spent about 17 hours installing my new alarm, also put in a tilt, dual shock, dual radar, and glass-break sensor.
Installed power door locks, well the relays and the wiring, and 1 of 4 3-contact magnum shooters for said door locks. My drivers door is too far forward, but I can't adjust the hinges because they are all rusty. Waiting for LW to soak in. Soldered all the connections, heat-shrinked, and then taped over everything, and hid it all behind the dash. I plan on putting the 2 2-wire actuators in the doors, and a 5-wire in the tailgate. Can't wait for the SYE, CV, 4" lift, 5 new rims and tires, and new soft-top to get here. I saved all year, and now I can start to work on it.

My shaft was too long so I went to a friend's house and had it cut down.
My double cardan drive shaft for my 8.8 install that is. The drive shaft came from a front Cherokee drive shaft. Brake lines and I'm done!!

Reconditioned my dash dimmer switch
I reconditioned the dimmer. See the photos. Sorry I did not take a completed pic after cleaning and soldering. I saw another psot on here and that other had cleaned and coated their dimmer with a dielectric grease. So I figured I give it a try. I cleaned the contacts with alochol. But I figured that solder is 60% lead and 40% tin so it is much less likely to corrode in the future. I got my 35 watt trusty Radion Shack iron out and (after cleaning the two outer copper foils) I coated the foils with solder FLUX. Then I tinned the entire area where the contacts run along the trace. Since only my outer traces were corroded I only tinned them. Plus it will be a good "test" to see if there are any future problems with the two type of metals. Once the solder was thinly layers and shiney, I wiped off all the extra flux and reassembled the unit. I test it and works again! yay!
I had been out of dash lights off/on for about a year. Thanks to the fellas here that posted their success. It helps all of us! |

![]() Yesterday I finally finished installing the '02 TJ sound bar. Now I can hear music on the freeway with the top off. Also put the luggage rack back on, along with the hi-lift. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Took the drain plugs out of the middle of the cab to let the water drain. Stupid scattered downpours.

Installed a new windshield and painted the bumpers.
For those looking to bed line the interior, Al's bedliner is really good and the spray gun is solid. I touched up with Herculiner so I have a little mixture, but it looks good and is durable. Next is to fatten up my yj with a lift and some tires. Cheers! |

All that is required for the 4x4 light to be lit, is for vacuum to be present at the switch. Three vacuum lines go to the actuator, two go to the transfer case which are the connect/disconnect, and a third goes from the actuator to the vacuum switch by the battery box. I am not a jeep mechanic, but it seems to me that it is possible for for the actuator to fail, yet still supply vacuum to the switch. I also don't have to worry about cracking or breaking a vacuum line, thereby disabling 4x4.

Depends what year the Jeep is. Mine ('91) the 4wd light is actuated by the switch itself. If the fork isn't moved all the way over, it will not light.

OK thats what I thought, mine is a 95 and the switch that lights the light is mounted on the vacuum motor. As you stated the light does not come on until the fork actually moves to engage the passenger side shaft.
